I Was Always Getting Bit By Mosquitos

Hi, Maria,

Last summer, you included results from one of your web polls on mosquitos. Regarding this survey, we camp out a lot and I was always getting bit by mosquitos. Then one day I realized that when I took a shower or cleaned up, I was using coconut scented shampoo, honey creme and lavender body wash, and a scented body lotion. Maybe the mosquitos couldn't resist someone who smelled like a flower garden and fruit bowl. LOL!

I did find that, after changing to unscented products when camping, I wasn't bothered by mosquitos as much.

Thanks for your interesting and informative newsletters!

I Saw the Swear Jar in Action

In one of your past issues, you mentioned a 'Swear Jar.' I have a story I want to share in relation to that.

Back in the early '90s, I had an opportunity to spend a day on the set of the movie My Girl, starring Dan Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis, Macaulay Culkin, and Anna Chlumsky. As Dan took me on a tour of the set, he pointed out a rather large jar full of $1 bills. He explained that Anna and Macaulay were trying to get Jamie to stop swearing by having her put a $1 bill in the jar every time they heard her do it.

From the looks of the jar, she was either having a terrible time breaking the habit...or she didn't mind spending the dollars. When I visited the set, it was early in the production. I am giving her the benefit of the doubt that their method worked in the end!

Learn What Your Cat is Trying To Tell You With...

The Cat Language Bible

In it you'll learn how to finally understand
and speak with your cat

Yes, meow means something

What does it mean, you ask?

Good question. It's about the same as aloha in Hawaiian.

The meaning changes.

Context matters hugely. Is it a mean meow, or a friendly one?

What about the cat's body action? Is he facing towards you, or away? Is the tail curled, or lying flat against the floor?

Depending on these points, 'meow' could mean 'let's watch a movie together' or 'boy am I thirsty right now.'

So getting the tone and body language right is critical.

Finally, there's a quick guide on the essentials of cat communication to open your ears (and your heart) into the fascinating world of feline communication, both verbal and nonverbal.

This guide, written by a PhD animal communications expert Dr Jonas Jurgella, is the missing link that allows you to bond with your own feline friend as if he was a human child.

That's the power of true and honest communication, vs the primitive 'animal baby talk' that so many pet owners unfortunately relegate themselves to.
