____ 1. The occasional afternoon nap. Naps aren't just for kids and they
don't have to be hours long. When I have a packed schedule for days on end, I
don't feel bad taking a nap mid-afternoon for 20-30 minutes. I set an alarm and
allow my mind and body to refresh so I can keep up the pace. Some weeks are just
tough or there's a lot of energy-draining activities that come up. By taking the
time to rest, you'll be helping yourself and you'll likely be more pleasant to
those around you.
____ 2. Reading and following directions. I always read and follow
directions when they're graciously provided...like when I'm looking for a new
address, baking a new treat, washing new clothes, or putting together small
furniture. I read through the directions before I begin, and then do my best to
follow the intended instructions, step by step. Doing so has saved me tons of
time and aggravation. Every now and then, after I've done whatever it is
according to the given directions, if I feel there's a better way, I try that
out on future attempts.
____ 3. My new kitchen tool: a candy apple red slotted turner. I had to
put my old nylon black turner to rest this past weekend. It was well past its
prime. I searched for a slotted turner that could withstand the heat of cooking
