____ 1. Planning for summer. Every summer, we make a family bucket list of things we'd like to do during the time that our daughter is home from school. We include local places we'd like to visit, books we want to read, friends we want to see, activities we want to do, movies we want to view, projects we want to work on, skills we want to improve, and food we want to make. Our list is always long, and has a good mix of sunny day and rainy day activities so we have tons to choose from. What is on your family's summer bucket list? Use this week to make one. My family finds making one to be a fun annual TO DO.

____ 2. Neighbors helping neighbors. When we take a weekend trip, one of the neighbor kids always helps us out with pet sitting, checking our mail, putting out our trash and recycling, and a number of other tasks. We know that when we take a trip, everything is in good hands. Good neighbors help each other when needed.

If a neighbor is helping you out, when possible, it's a good idea to give him/her an instruction grid listing TO DOs, dates, and times so each item can be checked off. When a friend was on vacation, I was grateful for the instruction grid she provided. Her dogs require different amounts of food at different times of the day so that was included. Pet medicines were indicated. She reminded me to store packages in the laundry room with the door shut so the dogs don't tear into them. She gave me directions on her garden...whether it's on its own or to water once a day, etc. She also gave me her garage keypad number for easy access. Each day, I just checked off each item one by one. It helped me stay organized for her.

____ 3. Durable kitchen shears: I love that my Chicago Cutlery Shears are my go-to to cut open boxes, plastic packaging, and to chop herbs, veggies, etc. They are durable and easy to wash since they come apart. They are precise enough to cut through rosemary and rough enough to get through hard plastic. They are also very affordable and made to fit either right or left handed people. If you don't already have a great pair, get these. I'm sure you'll really like them. https://amzn.to/2EghgvK
