  TO DO This Week

TO DO This Week

____ 1. Declutter your wallet. A wallet can contain a mess of things we don't really need, or don't have to be carrying around all the time. Old receipts, loyalty cards, ATM slips, business cards, coupons and more can multiply quickly and make it hard to find what we're looking for. Empty your wallet, getting rid of anything you no longer need or relocating anything you don't have to constantly carry around. For instance, if you have a store loyalty card, but you can just give your phone number at the store, why carry around the card? Organize the items you're returning to your wallet in a neat manner. Also, if your wallet isn't meeting your needs, it may be a good time for a replacement.

____ 2. Clean the top of your refrigerator. Carefully use a step ladder so you can reach the top of your fridge (or get someone to do this for you.) Remove anything being stored up there, so you can clean it. Don't be surprised if you find a lot of dust. It accumulates very easily. Once you're done, feel free to store a few things up there if you must, but consider using a tray or shallow basket. It's easy for items to get pushed to the back and fall behind the fridge.

____ 3. Have a salad for dinner this week. A wide variety of fresh veggies and fruits are plentiful this time of year. In my town, there's a weekly Farmer's Market and I love exploring everything they have to offer. Plus, since the food is grown locally, it's as fresh as can be. I also do some container gardening, so I enjoy using my harvest in whatever I can. During the summer months, I'll often make a main-dish salad for dinner using all of the wonderful produce. Designate one night this week, 'Salad Night' and then search for a recipe that includes whatever fresh items you have on hand. When I prepare a main dish salad, it will often include more 'hearty' ingredients so we're not still hungry when we're done. I almost always add in a lean protein (chicken, shrimp, salmon, etc.), beans (chick peas...yum!), and/or nuts (like walnuts, pecans, or almonds). Sometimes you'll spy a cheese in our salads (blue cheese and feta show up now and then). And you may even find some fruit in my family's main dish salads from time to time. No matter what, it's always delicious, nutritious, and doesn't require me to turn on the oven.
