____ 1. Combining outdoor fun with caring for nature. When we go to a park for a picnic, a festival, or for a walk in the woods, I always bring a paper bag (or two) for trash...we always have a stash from shopping at the grocery store or mall. Doing so gives us a place to put our own trash, or if we see an empty bag or soda can thrown on the ground from someone else, we'll pick it up and include that too. When the bag is full, we simply find trash/recycling receptacles and discard whatever we have in the bag. It's important to appreciate the beauty around us, and do our part to keep our environment clean.

____ 2. Washing swimwear and towels right away. If your summer is like mine, it includes quite a bit of swimming. We go to the pool, meet friends at the lake, and my daughter goes to pool parties. Plus, my daughter just became a lifeguard, which means there are towels being used ALL the time. I'm not a fan of swimwear and towels hanging all over my house drying. So, once we're done using towels, they are placed directly into the washing machine, and I run the cycle during dinnertime. Swimsuits are always washed by hand, as soon as we are home, in cold water with a mild detergent, and then hung to dry on a drying rack in the laundry room. By the way, swimsuits are pretty wet after handwashing. I always place an older towel on the floor under the drying rack to catch drips, and wash that towel once a week.

____ 3. A good electric toothbrush. I just had to buy a new electric toothbrush and I really like this one. It's easy to hold, simple to change the batteries, gets my teeth feeling really clean, and is very reasonably priced. It's important to not scrub your teeth and gums with too much force because it's damaging to your enamel. Using an electric toothbrush is gentler, but thorough. The only downside is that your teeth will feel so clean that you might forget to floss. Don't do that though, since it doesn't floss for you. See this link for more info on this great find:
