Slow Down...You Move Too Fast!

In the '59th Street Bridge Song' by Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon sings the lyrics, 'Slow down, you move too fast, you got to make the morning last.' Although these are merely words to a song, I think that from time to time we could all stand to take his advice and do just that. We are living in a very fast paced, busy world where faster is generally seen as better. Advertisers try to reel us in by promising faster Internet speeds, quick claim service, and freaky fast delivery. There are express lanes and self-checkouts to get us on our way faster. Everything seems geared towards getting things done faster and faster. Why is faster always perceived as better? Where will it end? Is it that horrible to have to wait for something every once in a while?

When I was young, I can remember my mother telling me that the older she got, the faster time seemed to go by. Today, I see that she was right. Time that used to drag in my younger years now seems to fly by as I have gotten older. This is why I think it's important to take a step back and take a look around every once in a while. Everyone is always in such a hurry to get where they need to go, or to reach the next milestone. It is very possible that they may be missing all of the good stuff along the way.

As geared as we are towards the quick paced lifestyle, it may take some effort to switch gears and slow it down, but it's really worth it now and then. Take some time to enjoy the little things around you.

Instead of driving to a fairly close destination, try walking instead. This will allow you to really see the things that you normally drive by very quickly and never even notice. Take note of the scenery, the buildings, the wildlife, or anything else you normally don't focus on. You may be amazed at the things around you that, on the average day, go unnoticed.

Try skipping the drive-thru at the bank and take a walk inside instead. Have a face-to-face interaction with the bank teller instead of a conversation through an intercom. This allows you to get to know the people that work at the bank and allows them to get to know you as well.

Try eating slower. Appreciate the aromas, flavors, and textures.

Drive slower. Isn't it better to leave earlier and get to your destination in a calm, relaxed state? Plus, it's safer to do so.

There's certainly nothing wrong with a calendar that's not jam-packed.

There are many ways to take a step back from our fast paced world and slow down. It just may take a little effort to do so. As Ferris Bueller said in the movie, 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off,' 'Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around every once in a while you could miss it.'

The World's Sharpest Knives

Help You Save Time (and are safer) in the Kitchen
In Fact...
They Even Passed the Shave Test,
the Tomato Test AND
the Ninja Test!

Makes a wonderful gift for others...or for you!

For super quick details, and a great video, about the world's sharpest knives, visit:

http://www.getorganizednow.com/rd-chef.html

Did you know that there's nothing more dangerous in the kitchen than cutting with dull knives? A dull blade requires more effort and pressure to cut. This means there's a higher chance the dull knife will slip with a lot of force behind it, increasing the chances of an injury...and possibly a visit to the ER.

This particular set of knives is very unique. They're incredibly lightweight and are super-strong (they can easily cut through a butternut squash and makes slicing meat a breeze). This is because they're made with a ceramic blade that is actually 10 times sharper than steel.

You've got to check them out. For details, visit:

P.S. As a special bonus, when you order before FRIDAY, JULY 12, you will get the following eBooks complimentary:

* 25 Delicious Salad Recipes

To get your complimentary bonuses, just email me at: getorgnow@charter.net along with your order number and I'll email your files immediately.

By the way, these knives make great gifts too...for anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, someone who tailgates at sporting events, and more!

Also, and this is pretty cool...when you get your knives, 10 hungry Americans will receive a meal on your behalf through the amazing 'Feeding America' organization!

  In Closing

'And so taking the long way home through the market I slow my pace down. It doesn't come naturally. My legs are programmed to trot briskly and my arms to pump up and down like pistons, but I force myself to stroll past the stalls and pavement cafes. To enjoy just being somewhere, rather than rushing from somewhere, to somewhere. Inhaling deep lungfuls of air, instead of my usual shallow breaths. I take a moment to just stop and look around me. And smile to myself. For the first time in a long time, I can, quite literally, smell the coffee.'
