Caught Up in Paper Mess

A GON Reader Asks

Hi Maria,

I'm still caught up in the paper mess. I constantly buy writing pads and write and copy things I read...and then I don't know which pad I put them in! I'm a mess! Please help! Thank you!

Maria Gracia responds...

Karen,

Thanks for your note. To answer your question, I feel like I need more information. First, what types of things are you writing in them? Are you writing TO DO lists for youself, recipes, decorating notes, appointments?

I will mention that, in most cases, notebooks are not meant to be 'final resting places,' but rather 'holding places' for tasks until they're done, or information until it's transferred to a more appropriate place.

For instance, I always keep a notebook in my purse to jot down quick notes while I'm out and about. I might indicate where I saw a particular jacket I may like, but am not ready to buy yet. I may write down a phone number a friend gave me. I may also have seen something that generated an idea I wish to implement that I also included in the notebook.

While I'm out, I'll cross off those errands as I complete them. When I return home, I'll open my notebook and add the phone number to my phone's contact list. I'll also open my Get Organized Now! Easy Organizer at home to enter the idea so that doesn't get lost and is easily found.

So, I'll leave you with those thoughts for now. If you need further information, let me know and send along more details.

Hope this helps a bit.

Question About Growing Citrus Fruits

A GON Reader Asks

Hi Maria,

Can you grow limes along with lemons? Will this attract fruit flies?

This Reader Question was submitted by:

--Frank Lemkan, Tinton Falls, NJ

Maria Gracia responds...

Frank,

Personally, if you're talking container-gardening, I don't like growing lemons and limes in the same pot. Reason being that if one is thriving, and the other isn't, there's not much you can do to save the one that isn't thriving without destroying the other. I recommend keeping them separate.

Overripe fruit will attract fruit flies, so once your citrus fruit is ripe, pick it off the tree (or pick up off the ground), bring indoors, and put lemons and limes in the fridge if you're not ready to use them immediately.

Hope this helps!
