____ 1. The tastes of fall. One of my favorite things about autumn is the wealth of fall flavors that surround us. The fall harvest of pumpkins, squash, and apples opens up an abundance of flavors that represent the season. I love the pumpkin spice wave that comes out this time of year and take full advantage of it. I also enjoy getting my fruit intake by having a crisp apple picked right off the tree in an orchard...but, at least once or twice each fall, covered in sweet caramel and peanuts as a special treat. Here are some options that scream fall to me:
--Oatmeal with Cranberries and Walnuts or Pecans
--Slow-Cooker or Oven Pot Roast
--Roasted Chicken
--Roasted Root Vegetables: Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Parsnips, Turnips
--Soups: Lentil, Pasta e Fagioli, Chicken Noodle, Italian Wedding
--Chili...I have a ton of vegetarian ones I love
--Sauteed Greens: Broccoli, Spinach, Kale, Celery, and Artichokes
--Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie, Pear Tarts

____ 2. Fluffy bath towels. Nothing ruins a good shower like getting out of the water and then wrapping up in a scratchy bath towel. Towels can tend to get scratchy after numerous washings for several reasons. Probably the main reason that towels lose their fluff is because of the overuse of laundry detergent. Because towels are relatively clean when you do decide to wash them, there is no reason to overload on the laundry detergent. A great way to return the fluff to your scratchy towels is to add 1/2 to 1 cup of distilled white vinegar to the rinse cycle when laundering your towels. This will help to remove the residue and, surprisingly, will not leave a vinegar odor behind.

____ 3. Sugar scrubs. As the winter dry air starts to creep in, our skin may be the first thing to notice. Less humidity in the air means skin dries out more easily and can begin to show the signs of dryness. One thing I like to use to help combat dry skin is an in-shower sugar scrub. Sugar scrubs help to exfoliate your dry skin while, at the same time, soften up your dry patches. My favorite one is Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub in Tropical Mango. It has a light, fresh fragrance and costs under $6.00. If mango is not your fragrance of choice, it also comes in several different scents such as coconut lime or mocha and coffee bean. Visit:
