____ 1. Switching up the music genre I'm listening to. It's very easy to get locked into listening to one music genre and just sticking with that all the time. That why I like to change things up a bit. This reminds me of the appreciation I have for other genres and decades of music, and exposes me to the newest songs available as well. Keep your music-listening fresh and new by setting the radio dial to pop, country, classic rock, oldies...even show tunes and classical now and then. And, just for fun, memorize all the words to a new song you've never heard of this week...doing so is a wonderful brain exercise.

____ 2. Confirming appointments. I was talking to a friend the other day who was telling me that she had an appointment with her accountant, and when she drove over 30 minutes to his office, his doors were locked. Apparently, his assistant neglected to put the appointment into the computer (she was having a rough week) and when the accountant saw that he 'didn't have any appointments' that day, he decided to work off-site. This is why it's so important to confirm appointments ahead of time. This goes for appointments with a doctor, hair salon, a friend with whom you have a lunch date, a hall for a party you're hosting, a business associate...and ANY other appointment. It only takes a few minutes to call or text ahead of time...preferably a day or two before the appointment is supposed to take place.

____ 3. The Tattooist of Auschwitz: A Novel I just finished reading this book, authored by Heather Morris, to discuss with my book group and I'm very glad I did. It is based on the true story of Lale and Gita Sokolov, two Slovakian Jews, who fell in love while doing what they had to do to survive in a concentration camp in Auschwitz. I found it a testament to bravery, endurance, love, and the human spirit despite the horrific conditions. For details, visit:

Learn What Your Cat is Trying To Tell You With...

The Cat Language Bible

In it you'll learn how to finally understand
and speak with your cat

Yes, meow means something

What does it mean, you ask?

Good question. It's about the same as aloha in Hawaiian.

The meaning changes.

Context matters hugely. Is it a mean meow, or a friendly one?

What about the cat's body action? Is he facing towards you, or away? Is the tail curled, or lying flat against the floor?

Depending on these points, 'meow' could mean 'let's watch a movie together' or 'boy am I thirsty right now.'

So getting the tone and body language right is critical.

Finally, there's a quick guide on the essentials of cat communication to open your ears (and your heart) into the fascinating world of feline communication, both verbal and nonverbal.

This guide, written by a PhD animal communications expert Dr Jonas Jurgella, is the missing link that allows you to bond with your own feline friend as if he was a human child.

That's the power of true and honest communication, vs the primitive 'animal baby talk' that so many pet owners unfortunately relegate themselves to.
