____ 1. Gifts from the heart...and hands. The holiday season is here and many of us will hit the stores in search of that perfect gift for the ones we love. As I have gotten older and wiser, I have realized that gifts from the heart have so much meaning. I have a friend who makes beautiful scarves and she gives them to family members and friends...I was the recipient of one of her creations this year. She puts a good amount of time into each one, making them in that person's favorite colors. Another friend of mine surprised me with a wonderful bookmark and potholders that she made in her spare time at home. Gifts such as these generally don't cost a lot of money to make, but come with an incredible amount of love and heart.

____ 2. Fresh baked cookies. Although it does involve work, I adore the sweet aroma and taste of fresh baked cookies. I'll be baking with my daughter in a few weeks, and we've been gathering new recipes to try out this year. We always make many-dozen and deliver batches to friends. As an added bonus, having the oven on always warms the home and heart on a cold winter's day.

____ 3. Essential oil diffusers. One thing I purchased recently and am thoroughly enjoying is an essential oil diffuser. In the dry winter months, not only does it add wonderful scents to the air, but it adds moisture as well. I like to keep one running in our home in the winter months when it's too cold out to open a window. Switching out the oils to change up the fragrance is fun. As a bonus, this particular one doubles as a nightlight.
