TO DO This Week
____ 1. Freshen up your makeup. It's very easy to purchase more cosmetics
than we actually need, especially if we shop in stores like Sephora or Ulta...
the 'candy stores' of makeup. This often ends up with lots of makeup...some that
we actually use and enjoy, and some that we're not happy with after one or two
applications. First off, did you know that many cosmetics stores and big
department stores will allow you to return 'gently used' (you tried them once or
twice) cosmetics you're not happy with...even after you opened and used them,
for a credit or a refund? Cosmetics are expensive, so always check store return
policies before trying something new, and don't hesistate to ask for a refund if
you're not happy with a recent purchase. For cosmetics that have been in your
home for awhile, sort and then toss anything that may be getting dried up, that
is almost empty, or that you'll never use. While you're at it, check your makeup
brushes. Are they in good shape or could they stand to be replaced? Start fresh
by cleaning any that are still in good shape and buy new ones to replace the
ones that aren't.
____ 2. Send some greeting cards. When I open my mailbox every day, it's
generally filled with a bill or two to pay, and some junk mail. Sometimes,
however, I get a greeting card in the mail...and those mail pick-up days are SO
much better. They really can make a day extra special. Make somebody's trip to
the mailbox more fun by sending out some greeting cards. It could be a Christmas
card ('tis the season!), a birthday card, an anniversary card, or just an 'I'm
Thinking of You' card. Receiving a handwritten greeting in the mail certainly
beats receivng a bill that demands, 'Please remit this amount.' Brighten up
someone else's day by sending a smile in the mail in the form of a greeting
card.
____ 3. Clean the surface of your computer. With the amount of times that
a computer gets handled, it is no surprise how dirty it can get. Grab some
screen cleaning wipes and wipe down both the screen and keyboard on your
computer. If there are crumbs in your keyboard, turn it upside down over the
trash can and shake out any debris. You may even consider buying a silicone
keyboard skin to place over your keyboard. These are relatively inexpensive to
purchase and will help to keep dirt and dust from ever getting on your keyboard
in the first place.
