  TO DO This Week

TO DO This Week

____ 1. Get ready for Valentine's Day...it's coming up soon. Valentine's Day is coming up on February 14th. Get organized and ahead of the game this year. Have you made or bought cards? If any will need mailing, get them addressed, stamped, and ready to go, maybe with a sticky note reminder for when they need to be mailed. If you send e-cards, pick one out. Decide on recipients and what your personal message will be. Then set it to be sent in time for Valentine's. Make any dinner reservations that you need to while you can still get the time slot you want. Or plan something special for dinner. Don't forget that many grade school kids still bring Valentine's for their classmates to school. If you have a child this age, find out if your child's class is exchanging cards and/or treats so you can plan accordingly.

____ 2. Clean the laundry hamper. After being home to our dirty and sometimes smelly clothes, the laundry hamper may house dirt of its own, as well as mold and bacteria. The next time you remove the clothes to wash, take a little time to clean the hamper too. If your hamper is plastic, use baking soda or dish soap and hot water for cleaning. If the hamper is made from or lined with canvas or other fabric, you may be able to wash it in the machine. Wicker or wood will need a more careful cleaning, maybe a baking soda and water solution. Just take care not to get it too wet, and sit the hamper out in the sun to dry (briefly if you live in a cold weather area.) If there is mold, remove it. If you have concerns about bacteria (for example, someone in the family had the flu), use a disinfectant spray. To avoid mold and odors in the future, avoid putting wet or damp clothing in the hamper, and consider using something to absorb odor, like baking soda in a potpourri bag or some other type of odor absorber.

____ 3. Offload holiday photos from your phone. Create a folder on your phone and label it "Holiday Photos 2019." Now move your holiday photos into it and up or download them to your favorite storage location - the Cloud, a flash drive, or the hard drive of your computer. When you know they are safely backed up, remove them from your phone to free up some space.
