Some is Better Than None
While I love a good, all-day organizing and cleaning marathon once in a blue
moon, normally my schedule (and my energy level) is more geared towards
doing a little bit at a time.
A few nights ago, I gave the shower in the master bathroom a good scrubbing.
Yesterday, I dusted the upstairs rooms.
Today, I vacuumed the upstairs rooms.
Tomorrow, I'll get something done in the kitchen...I noticed a few cabinet
insides need a bit of dusting.
I always do one load of laundry every day...wash cycle, dry cycle, and fold.
My husband and daughter do the same. A small TO DO or two each day or night.
We all quick-clean-up after ourselves daily as far as wiping the bathroom
counter and sink down, dust-busting any hair that has fallen to the bathroom
floor...or cleaning up after we eat. It's amazing what a difference it makes to
take the few extra moments to do these small tasks right away...rather than
waiting for a small tidying job to turn into a huge cleaning project.
I would say, on average (not including cooking), I spend about 20 minutes, more
or less, cleaning or tidying or doing a general household TO DO each day...and
not all at once. 10 minutes here, another 10 minutes there.
In doing this, the house is almost always clean and presentable, without any
of us having to put in a huge amount of time or effort on any given day.
