An Unexpected Find in a Box of Crackers

I was weeding out old blog posts this week, and came across this one I wrote a few years ago. It's a great story. I just had to share it again.

When Whole Foods customer, Debra Rogoff, bought a box of Annie's Sour Cream and Onion Cheddar Bunny Crackers at the grocery store, she thought she was just buying crackers. Once she opened the box at home, she discovered something else inside...an envelope stuffed with $10,000.

Being the honest person that she was, she called the police and was informed that the money could be part of a drug drop. Authorities later discovered, however, that the story was a more innocent one.

An elderly woman had come into that grocery store a few days earlier, absolutely hysterical because she had mistakenly returned a box of crackers...with her life savings inside. Apparently, she decided hiding her money in the cracker box, gluing it safely inside, was safer than keeping it in the bank...and she forgot she put it there.

Debra Rogoff returned the money to its rightful owner...and that was that. The store did oblige Debra with another box of crackers!

Moral of this story...

It's never a good or organized idea to stick your life savings in a box of crackers. It's too easy for something to go wrong...and the end result may not turn out as good as this one, thankfully, did.
