TO DO This Week

____ 1. Mail gifts. Since I have quite a few family members who live out
of state, many of our Christmas gifts need to be shipped. Normally, I would wait
to do this until around Thanksgiving. However, with the global pandemic, I know
that shipping from many companies has been much slower than usual. So, I'll be
doing some online shopping this week, and having the stores wrap and ship those
items out. I'll include a 'Do Not Open Until Christmas' notation with each. If
you have gifts you're mailing yourself, rather than directly from the store, I
would recommend you mail those fairly early as well to avoid lines at the post
office, especially during the global pandemic...or opt to have packages picked
up from your doorstep by your courier of choice.
____ 2. Stock up on pantry items. Once upon a time, you had tons of
things to do, and now you're exhausted. But, you still have to make dinner...and
your pantry is bare. Sound like a familiar story? To avoid this, always keep
your pantry stocked with basics, such as tomato sauce, pasta, quinoa, olives,
capers, roasted red peppers, canned tomatoes, tuna, beans, canned veggies, rice,
rice noodles, dried fruit, nuts, and seeds. This will greatly reduce those
last-minute treks to the store.
____ 3. Evaluate time spent on social media in relation to your TO DO list.
It's very easy, especially as of late with election news, pandemic news,
etc. to find ourselves wrapped up into spending exhaustive amounts of time on
social media. This is a problem if that's happening at the expense of getting
anything done. If the laundry is piling up, you can't get dinner made by a
reasonable time, your house is in bad need of a cleaning, your work deadlines
are being missed, or the dog wet the carpet because you forgot to let him out,
evaluate the amount of time you're investing on social media each day. If it's
too much (and for most people...it's a TON) then consider easing up a bit. Limit
yourself to 30 minutes...and then unplug, so to speak. Besides, so many folks
have mentioned that social media has been an enormous source of stress for them
this year, rather than a form of release and enjoyment.
