Are You Retracing Your Steps Over and Over Again?
Be mindful about the steps you take, in your home, on a daily basis.
Are you carrying things up the stairs, down the stairs, up the stairs, and down
the stairs again...every time you notice something out of place? Or do you leave
a basket at the top or bottom of the staircase, whatever floor you're currently
on, put items that go upstairs or downstairs in it, and bring it up all at once
when you absolutely have to go up or down?
What about when you fold laundry? Are you paying visits to everyone's room to
gather laundry baskets, and then delivering all of it back to that respective
room when it's done? Or is each family member delivering his or her own laundry
to the laundry room for cleaning, and picking it up when it's done?
Do you make five trips back and forth to the pantry, and another five back and
forth to the fridge, gathering items for a recipe? Or, do you grab all pantry
items needed at once, all fridge items needed at the same time, etc.?
Perhaps you're doing a lot of backtracking on errands? Are you running all of
your errands in a random manner without thinking about how many miles you're
accumulating? Or, do you think before you leave, ensuring that your route is
mapped out in the most efficient way possible?
Part of being organized, is finding ways to do things efficiently and
accurately, with less effort and less time.
Next time you find yourself retracing your steps over and over, think twice
about what you're doing.
Being organized, starts with an organized mind. An organized mind is always
trying to find a better way--one that saves time, effort and stress, but still
gets the job done.
