____ 1. Look-Back calendars. While surfing on Pinterest, I came across a fun 'Look Back Calendar' idea. In a nutshell, it's a daily calendar you can put together yourself using any box and 365 index cards. Number the cards with the month and day at the top of each card (e.g. Jan 1, Jan 2, Jan 3, etc.) Each day, go to the appropriate date and write the current year and something that happened that day--like your daughter took her first steps, or you saw an old friend on your way to work. Do the same for each day of the year thereafter. When the year has ended, go back to the card for January 1st, write the new year, under your thought from last year, and something that happened that day. Imagine how neat it will be reading all of your thoughts for the past 5 or 10 years--all in one place!

____ 2. Logging interruptions. Ever start working on something, get distracted and start working on something else--just to discover later that you never completed that first task you intended to do? If so, you're not alone. This 'drop one project, hop to another' tendency is a common one that many people share. Next time you begin working on something, set a timer to sound off in 10 minutes, and then begin working on your first project. When the timer goes off, determine if you're still working on your first project. If you are, great. If not, and you haven't yet completed that first project, stop what you're doing, jot down what interrupted you, re-set the timer and get back to working on your first project. Repeat this process throughout the day. At the end of the day, read through your list to determine what interruptions caused you to get distracted-- television, unexpected visitors, phone calls, and so on. Once you know what these interruptions are, you can then work on eliminating them so you're not distracted by the same things tomorrow. For example, perhaps you'll turn off the TV, screen your phone calls, ask those visitors to return at a later time, etc.

____ 3. Office supplies...drab to fab. Do you say, 'Blah!' to plain metal paper clips, manila file folders, pale yellow sticky notes? If you do, you're likely not going to be so excited about organizing. So, what can you do to spice up your office supply collection and your spirit? It can be as simple as adding some color. Many office supplies come in a rainbow of colors to suit each individual's personality and style. Yes, sometimes they cost a bit more than their more drab counterparts, but if you like them more, you're likely to use them more. Don't be afraid to add more flair to your office supply collection with colorful binder clips, paper clips, file folders, sticky notes, pens and other 'fancy' supplies. It may be just the boost you need to get inspired to get and keep everything organized. Here are some super cute paper binder clips:
