People are always asking me what I consider to be my favorite 'latest-and- greatest' organizing tool. While there are many gadgets, tools, storage containers, etc. on the market, to be perfectly honest with you, I'm really a back-to-basics type of person when it comes to getting and staying organized. That leads me to mentioning the mason jar.

Typically used for preserving food, mason jars are one of my favorite organizing tools. First, you can see right through them, which means you will know what's in the jar at a glance, even if the jar isn't labeled. Second, while they serve a behind-closed-doors pantry well, they can be left out in the open and function as both decor AND storage...I love form and function in one! Third, you can fill with goodies, dress them up with ribbon and such, and give as gifts. Hands down...mason jars are number one on my list when it comes to organization. Here are just a few of the other items that can be stored in them:

--Keep dry ingredients, like pasta, oats, rice, beans, flour, sugar, chocolate chips, pumpkin seeds, and more organized and visible

--Remove the lids and use to sort utensils, or even to hold straws

--Sort and store ribbon (or buttons) in them...great for crafters

--Organize an art station. Paintbrushes in one, markers in another, colored pencils in a third one

--Use them in your bathroom. They're great holders for cotton swabs, cotton balls, hair accessories, and toothbrushes

--Keep cupcake liners dust-free and easily visible in mason jars...plus the liners won't get crushed

--Smaller ones are wonderful for holding spices and keeping them fresh

--Save up your coins for something fun. Just keep adding them to your mason jar and cash them in for paper currency when full

Such a simple item, very inexpensive, and a multitude of uses!
