  Organizing Thought of the Day

Reader Tips Rock

Reader tips are the best. Here are a few I recently received:

'I have 2 laundry baskets. One is for towels and underwear. The other is for dark and light clothing and for delicate lingerie. So most of the sorting is pretty much done; I only have to separate the dark and light clothing as I do not wash those together. And there may be other things one would want to wash separately, but most of the work is done sorting-wise. When our two daughters were still with us, there was a small basket in each of their rooms for clothing and they would put any towels, etc. in the basket in our bathroom. Hope this helps!'
(Patricia L)

'I decorate my home for many holidays and seasons. One thing I do which has helped is to take photos of the areas I have decorated, print the photos, and place them in the corresponding bins. For example, pictures of my fireplace mantle will go in the bin with the items I use to decorate the mantle. This has helped me to remember how I have decorated in the past and where items might go. Of course, I may decide to change it up a bit, but the pictures spark my memory.'
(Linda J.)

'I have several purses. Many I make myself as a quilter. I have my purse contents in zipper bags, makes it easier to find things, easier if you have an accidental spill, and quick to move to a new purse. A purse organizer is OK, but I find the pockets smallish. Plus, I limit my contents in my purse as too many things make them too heavy. I use a red one for February, green for March, a pastel for April, May is red, white and blue, orange for October, brown for November, and I enjoy Christmas so much that I change every week. In the summer, I use a beautiful string rattan bag. I get to see my favorites each year. If you only have a few essentials in your bag it is easy to change. When I'm ready to donate, I give to a women's shelter...they are always looking for these. I try to always reuse, re-purpose or recycle.'

Keep those reader tips coming! I love them...and I love sharing them with our other GON readers!
