  Organizing Thought of the Day

By Now, My Calendar Would Be Pretty Full...

I'm a planner. I plan everything.

By now, I would have been taking my daughter (a high school junior) on visits to college campuses to help her determine where she'd like to go. We'd have airline and car trips planned...hotels worked out...and appointments made for tours.

By now, I would have reservations in place for Easter brunch.

By now, I'd have a vacation plan worked out, as well as dates for my extended family to fly out and visit us. I would have a list of restaurants to dine at and places to go.

By now, I'd have my entire year of in-person workshops and seminars worked out for my business.

By now, my calendar would be pretty full.

Yet here it is February, and my calendar (at least my personal calendar) has a whole lot of BLANK squares. So far, my daughter and I have been visiting colleges, virtually. My business calendar is filled with mostly virtual events.

The global pandemic has, for nearly a year, squashed a whole lot of in-person plans...and made any plans we make uncertain at best.

My friend's daughter, in California, had a wedding planned...way back in April of last year. It's still on hold...and she has not been able to reschedule yet. She doesn't want a Plan B. She has been dreaming of Plan A all her life. The couple is waiting it out.

Her wedding decorations company is now out of business. I'm sure they had plans to grow and thrive. Instead, they had to shut their doors permanently.

This pandemic can't be over soon enough.

Something so many of us are missing right now is the ability to plan what to do, when we want to do it...and the 'what was once high' probability that those plans will actually be fulfilled.

If you're a planner, like me, you're probably feeling a bit unsettled.

But the answer to this is not to stop planning...because plans give us hope for better tomorrows. They help us feel like we have some control.

So, what I did yesterday is I planned on a much smaller scale.

I have dates and times on my calendar for my daughter and to drive to some fairly nearby college campuses even though we won't be able to enter most of the buildings at this time. But we will be able to see the grounds and surrounding areas. It's something.

I have dates in my calendar for a spring family stay-cation. It will be a no- work week and we plan to drive to some towns in our state and do our own personal walking tours.

I have some smaller meet-ups arranged with business associates and friends, this spring, who don't have the means or desire for virtual meet-ups. They are in person at parks...and some outdoor cafes. We have rain dates if needed.

None of this is perfect. None of this is great.

But the good news is, none of this is permanent.

Stay strong. Stay focused. Keep planning.

  Something Special For You

Get Your Free Pass
to the Heart Brain Online Event

February is heart health month, and I have something very special for you.

Most people don't know this, but the heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart. Those heart signals contain a wide range of information that affect how the brain thinks and perceives.

These heart signals have a significant effect on brain function and improve positive emotions, attention, perception, memory, problem-solving, and intuition. It also greatly reduces insecurity and stress, which are huge obstacles to success.

When the heart and brain are in sync, your intelligence expands and you gain access to more intuitive downloads and meaningful insights. Heart health is not only physical, but also emotional. During the Heart Brain Fest, you will learn all about syncing your heart and brain for your health and well-being.
