Making This Newsletter Readable for Everyone

These days, half of my GON readers are reading my newsletter on their computers and laptops...and the other half of my GON readers are reading my newsletter on their phones.

I'd like my newsletter font size to be large enough for everyone to be able to read comfortably. All of the different technology makes this a challenging task.

I changed the font size in this newsletter...and am hoping it doesn't cause readability problems on either the desktop or phones.

Either way, would you reply back and let me know? Thank you!

  Organizing Thought of the Day

Organizing Your Time for Personal Connections

Yesterday, I was talking with Beth. She is a friend of mine who is a front line nurse and a single mom with one teenage daughter. She has been working hours of regular time and overtime, keeping up with Covid-19 patients in the respiratory unit, since the global pandemic began. She is grateful for the opportunity to help during this crisis, but she told me how exhausted she is.

In addition, something bothering her is that she has been feeling out-of-touch with her loved ones and friends. She said she feels these missing connections are beginning to have a detrimental effect on her emotional well-being. So, she asked if I had an organized system to help her reconnect in the limited time she has. Here is a method I shared with Beth that you may wish to apply to your own life.

1. Make a list of people. Write up a list of everyone you want to stay in contact with so that you don't forget anyone. Yes, it's probably in your head, but it's helpful to have this list on paper.

2. Add these names to a calendar. Print up a monthly calendar...I have a complimentary one on my web site. Pencil in names on certain dates. For instance, if you want to contact 'Sally' once a month, be sure her name is written in once a month. Or, if you wish to contact your sister every Friday, get your sister's name into the calendar. Writing in pencil allows you to make adjustments as needed. Of course, be realistic. You may only have time for one or two contacts each week...and that's OK.

3. Brief contacts are still contacts. Don't get overwhelmed feeling that you don't have time for hour-long phone calls. In my mind, it's better to contact someone and talk for 10 minutes, rather than not at all, especially if you have the next contact date scheduled on your calendar.

Knowing who you'd like to contact and having days and times blocked out for these connections is far more effective than thinking, 'I haven't called Gina in weeks...I probably should connect one of these days.' Time flies and before we know it, it could be weeks, months, or years since your last contact.

Finally, personal connections are so important. They can help keep us sane during these crazy, uncertain times...and give us a boost of motivation. When we schedule appointments with doctors and dentists, those meet-ups almost always happen. Making 'appointments' with friends, will help ensure those connections come to fruition as well.

Some people are eternally happy no matter what their situation. Others find it a constant struggle to find happiness. Most folks are somewhere in between both of these.

Throughout the years, I have determined that the happiest people in the world are not just happy 'by chance,' but because they've taken specific actions in their lives. Once you know and apply these actions, you'll be able to harness and release the happiness that is deep within you.

Whether you're looking for just a little more happiness or a whole lot, my Happy for Life resource includes the information you need to multiply your happiness levels. For more details, including the three factors that contribute most to increasing your level of happiness in your life, visit:

  Take Action

___ 1. Do today's (Feb 20) Organizing TO DO. It's focused on Love Your Pet Day...which is today. Visit GetOrganizedNow.com to access my February Monthly Organizing Checklist.

___ 2. Do some research. My daughter has been begging me to buy an air fryer, but I'm not sure we'll use it enough to own one. I mentioned this to Renee, a friend of mine, and she has loaned me hers for two weeks. She did confess that she hardly uses it...but I have other friends who do. So, we'll try out a few recipes and then make the decision whether we should buy one of our own, or skip. This is our 'research' for the next two weeks. What research do you have to get done this week? Begin gathering information.

___ 3. Discover the prime starting point. Beware! This is the prime starting point where clutter starts and grow. Visit GetOrganizedNow.com to access my Dirty Little Secret.
