Organizing Thought of the Day

Make Your Laundry Process as Easy as Possible
|
The typical family washes 300 loads of laundry a year. I do a load a day...
skipping a day here and there...so that is definitely accurate for my family.
And when I say I 'do laundry,' there is not much 'doing' as much as there is
'waiting.' There is very little we have to 'do' these days because our modern
appliances make it so easy.
Whether we're doing laundry at home or the laundromat, once the clothes are in
the washer or dryer, we really just push a few buttons...and have no other work
to do except fold and put away.
Many years ago, doing laundry could take all day. Women were mostly responsible
for this chore...and there were no 'easy buttons' to press. It took hot water,
washboards, and paddles...and was backbreaking, exhausting, time-consuming work.
I'm grateful we're living in a time when hands-on laundry time per load is only
around 15 minutes. The machines do most of the work.
Here are six things my family does to make the laundry process easier in our
home:
1) We have one
laundry sorter
in our laundry room. It's divided into three compartments. The first is for
towels and underwear. The second is for white and light colored clothing. The
third is for dark colored clothing. Each family member is responsible for
sorting his or her own laundry into the proper compartments.
2) We also have two small,
mesh laundry bags
hanging on the sorter...one is for delicate items and the other is for socks. We
wash these items right in the mesh laundry bags and nothing gets lost or
snagged. (Note: Bras should be clasped shut to help avoid snags and tangling.)
3) The laundry room is well-organized and well-stocked. Everything we need to do
laundry is easily available...detergent, stain-remover, fabric softener,
dryer sheets or
dryer balls
,bleach which I use occasionally, tennis balls to add to the dryer cycle to keep
a jacket or comforter fluffy when needed, and a foldable, drying rack for items
that cannot go into the dryer. I also keep an all-purpose cleaner and
disinfectant spray in the laundry room to wipe down the washer and dryer when
needed...and a small bag to place lint after each dryer cycle (that gets emptied
out on trash day.)
4) We do one load a day, so the laundry never gets out of hand...and we are
always caught up.
5) We have the loud buzzers set to ON, so we can hear when the cycle on both the
washer and dryer is done. When the cycle ends, we move clothes from the washer
to the dryer...or out of the dryer and fold...immediately. If something is
going to be hung, we don't fold it. We just lay it flat and bring to the
bedroom closet for hanging.
6) We never leave the dryer on when nobody is home. Trust me, if a dryer fire
starts, that could end up in a disaster. When running a cycle a month ago, I
smelled smoke and immediately turned it off. Some lint which made its way into
the innards of the dryer was actually singed when the repairman took the
appliance apart. Don't ever think a dryer fire can't happen.

Say Goodbye to Your Dog's
Problem Behaviors with...
Brain Training for Dogs

To fast forward to making your dog's problem behaviors disappear, visit:
www.getorganizednow.com/rd-brainy-dog.html
No matter what your dog's problem behavior is, be it jumping, peeing in the
house, aggression, pulling on the leash...or whatever, there is ONE SOLUTION
that can help STOP this problem now.
The sad fact is, most dog trainers miss this solution entirely. They give you
cookie cutting training programs. They use outdated, mean, and unkind dominance
techniques. Or worse yet, they have no qualifications to be offering advice.
So what's the answer to stopping your dog's behavioral problems? In 5 simple
words...
Discovering your dog's hidden intelligence.
Let me explain. More intelligent dogs are better behaved. A more intelligent dog
takes commands easier and understands what you need. The good news is, no matter
how clever you think your dog is, you can unlock your pet's hidden intelligence
quickly and easily.
Don't waste a second longer coping with problem behaviors you don't need to be
dealing with. Visit this link to learn more about Brain Training for Dogs:
