Organizing Thought of the Day

My 'Furry' Project This Past Weekend
|
I was sitting down this past Saturday, having a cup of coffee. The sun was
shining bright through my window. A tiny bit of movement caught my eye at the
top of my living room drapes. It was a bit of white fur from our pet bunny,
Buddy. It's shedding season. When I reached up to grab it, I realized it wasn't
just a little bit of fur...it was a lot, and was on the front, back and edges of
our drapes.
Buddy's fur is so fine that, as he sheds, it simply drifts here, there, and
everywhere...until it lands. He's a tiny, 8-year old Holland Lop bunny, but when
he sheds, it's quite a lot and it's a slow process. He's only in his pen at
night; otherwise he hops around our home. (Yes, he's potty trained...and uses
his litter box...like a cat.) We brush him nearly every day, and that helps, but
it doesn't eliminate all of the shedding.
Sigh. So much for a relaxing Saturday morning. But no way was I going to leave
it there and ignore it.
At first, I grabbed the lint roller. But I could quickly tell that if I used
that as my tool, I would go through the entire roll of sticky paper in no time.
So, I grabbed my husband's Magic Lint Brush
that he uses to de-lint his suits, and a step ladder.
Starting at the top of the drapes, and focusing on a small section at a time,
I began brushing the fur away. With this type of lint brush, you simply brush
in the direction of the tool's arrow. As the brush fills with lint, you rub
the brush with your thumb in the opposite direction, and the fur comes right
off.
I kept a small bag hooked on the step ladder, so I could remove the hair and
put it into the bag, without having to climb up and down.
This definitely took some time. To get the dining room drapes done, it took
about an hour, and my husband jumped in halfway through to lend me a hand. But
when we were done, I was satisfied that all the fur was removed.
Since I was on a roll, I also checked the kitchen curtains. Sure enough, same
thing. We have 4 windows and one double door in the kitchen, but luckily we
have smaller tea curtains in there. Although we had to keep moving the ladder
for each window, the process only took about 30 minutes to complete.
The dining room drapes were fine. Buddy doesn't spend a whole lot of time in
that room, because we don't spend a whole lot of time there. He likes to be
where we are most of the time. So, those didn't need to be done.
And we close off the rest of our house to him. He's not allowed in the bedrooms
or bathrooms...and he doesn't venture into the basement. So, no fur in any of
the other rooms.
So, while I wasn't really planning on spending my Saturday morning de-furring
our curtains and drapes, I was glad I noticed and we got the job done.
It's just one of the drawbacks of owning a pet that sheds. But, the joy our
bunny brings to our family makes up for the extra work. And yes, that's an
actual photo of Buddy sitting by my boots.

To fast forward to making your dog's problem behaviors disappear, visit:

No matter what your dog's problem behavior is, be it jumping, peeing in the
house, aggression, pulling on the leash...or whatever, there is ONE SOLUTION
that can help STOP this problem now.
The sad fact is, most dog trainers miss this solution entirely. They give you
cookie cutting training programs. They use outdated, mean, and unkind dominance
techniques. Or worse yet, they have no qualifications to be offering advice.
So what's the answer to stopping your dog's behavioral problems? In 5 simple
words...
Discovering your dog's hidden intelligence.
Let me explain. More intelligent dogs are better behaved. A more intelligent dog
takes commands easier and understands what you need. The good news is, no matter
how clever you think your dog is, you can unlock your pet's hidden intelligence
quickly and easily.
Don't waste a second longer coping with problem behaviors you don't need to be
dealing with. Visit this link to learn more about Brain Training for Dogs:
