Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Hi Maria,
In response to your March 29 Newsletter
entitled, 'An Unusual, But Effective, Organizing Tool'...
Well, I thought for sure the purpose of the octopus would be to wipe small dusty
areas (maybe even tablets, phone, vehicle, and computer screens) with the darker
side and then turn it over to sit 'clean' until the next use! LOL! Either way -
CUTE!
Similarly to the octopus idea, I have heard of neighbors who display a green
sheet of paper on the window so other neighbors know they are fine. Yellow for
might need some help. Red for please help me NOW. Similarly very helpful. Love
your tips!

6 TO DOs from Your Monthly Checklist
I want to thank you for the monthly organizing checklist. I scroll through the
month when you first publish it and choose at least 6 things I need to do and
place those in my 'reminders' on my phone. It's a great feeling to see there are
several I've already recently done. Thanks for helping us to be better
organized.

I Can Breathe a Little Easier Knowing Several Major Projects Are Done
These past 3 months, I've completed several of your monthly challenges. I've
weeded out clothes and household items...and donated. I've lost 27 pounds since
Thanksgiving.
I fell and dislocated my shoulder last month, so was unable to work for a couple
of weeks. During that time, I went to my parents' house and helped Mom go
through 13 boot-sized boxes and one large box of pictures, separating for
myself, my siblings and the adult grandchildren in our family. Mom had purchased
decorative boxes from Michael's and we put a name on each box, putting pictures
and other memorabilia for that person in their box. We had large Manila mailing
envelopes for the large pictures and programs. We still have a few boxes to go,
but the majority are done and that feels great for the both of us. She will be
giving these out to each adult at Christmas. A major project almost done.
In January, my husband brought down from the attic, 3 boxes of old taxes that
could be shredded. I was able to get them all shredded in a weekend.
In March, I went through my packed 2-drawer file cabinet and was able to empty
out a complete drawer! I had been putting it off for several years, but decided
to bite the bullet and do it. I had several boxes of files sitting around the
house, and was able to go through those, too. I was able to fill the empty
drawer with the boxes of files that were sitting in boxes. I still need to go
through some files, but a huge amount was discarded and those with account
numbers or other personal information were shredded. The shredding took a few
hours of another weekend.
Thanks for your challenges. It is true that if you just start decluttering,
you'll probably end up being more motivated to get more done. Not only have I
lost weight, I've lost a lot of pounds of paperwork and donated items. Even
though I still have a lot to do, I can breathe a little easier knowing several
major project are either done or almost done.
