  Organizing Thought of the Day

Unlikely Storage Ideas

Sometimes, you can find and use items you already own to store and display things in an unlikely, but organized and effective, way. Here are a few 'unlikely' storage ideas that are artsy and functional:

1. Golf bags: If you have a golf bag you're no longer using or if you see one at a rummage sale, they make excellent containers for holding and containing:
--fishing rods
--long-handled gardening tools
--baseball bats
--pool sticks

2. Terra cotta pots: These usually hold flowers, of course, but they're also a fun, decorative way to keep these other items easily accessible:
--cooking utensils
--remote controls
--eating utensils (especially for a backyard barbecue)
--hair brushes and combs

3. Wooden or metal magazine racks: These days, I read all of my magazines on my tablet, like many other folks. So, what can be done with the wood or metal magazine rack that used to hold them? Store these items in them:
--flip flops
--cooking sheets, cupcake tins, wooden rolling pins, cutting boards
--toilet paper rolls or rolled hand towels in your bathroom
--yarn and knitting needles

  Inspiration

'Rather than waste or eliminate items which you don't currently use, discover a new way to improve and enjoy their value. What strengths and talents can you repurpose for a new endeavor? How can you repurpose your thoughts to ensure they help you rather than hinder?' (Susan C. Young)
