Fabulous Organizing Tips and Thoughts
from GON Readers
Here are a bunch of tips and thoughts from GON Readers to brighten your day...
I Have Never Had a Chance to Tell You...
Hi Maria,
When I started using the Internet back in 1999, I didn't want to subscribe to
anything unless it was very beneficial. You were one of my first subscriptions.
I have never had a chance to tell you how your organizing skills have won first
place in my heart. The people who help us the most usually don't get the
recognition they deserve. But I am here today to tell everyone, you have made my
life so much easier that words could never say it.
I thought I was a very organized person. Boy, was I wrong. Your ideas are tops!
I really hope people listen to you as I was one who thought I knew it all, but
no way!
It took me awhile in the beginning (as I was a working nurse), but I took one
idea when I could to get organized...and still you come up with some I didn't
know or had long forgotten.
I just want to say, thanks, thanks, thank you! Your friend and subscriber from
the beginning!

Just Because Something is Tucked Away...
Hi Maria,
I am a long time subscriber and have benefited from your advice and suggestions.
I am often described by friends and family as being 'very organized.' Thank you
for sharing your advice and expertise with all of us.
One thing I failed to follow your advice on was to go through my files and weed
out unnecessary paperwork. My file system includes our household records, my
husband's business and years of records for volunteer organizations that I
belong to. It also included programs from all of my concert programs I have
performed in for over 30 years in a community orchestra. I counted the file
drawers which added up to 14 drawers. Oh my!
We are facing a big move back to the states and must lighten the load. I began
tackling the files and am making good progress. I am scanning records and
keepsakes that I need to retain and getting rid of the paper. Of course, I am
finding many papers were no longer necessary and can easily be discarded.
Needless to say, I would be in a better position had I heeded your advice and
reviewed files regularly.
After emptying a couple of drawers, I posted the file cabinets on a local
Facebook marketplace, and sold a few. So, I emptied the file cabinets and this
was an added incentive to keep up the good work.
Feel free to share my experience and warning to other subscribers that just
because something is tucked away in a nice file folder in a nice file cabinet,
you can't ignore the paper beast forever. I highly advocate for everyone to
listen to you and purge their files regularly!
Thank you for all you do,
-- Sylvia

I Love Hanging Shoe Organizers
Maria,
I LOVE hanging shoe organizers, and have for years. I have one in the kitchen
for spices, one in the bathroom for toiletries and one in the office for small
supplies like staplers and Post-Its. There's also one in the foster animals
room for small toys and tools, like toenail clippers.
