Fabulous Organizing Tips and Thoughts
from GON Readers
Here are a bunch of tips and thoughts from GON Readers to brighten your day...
How I repurpose old maps
Hi Maria,
I enjoy your newsletter during mini-breaks at work!
I repurpose old maps by using as gift wrapping paper for my three grown sons who
all love studying maps for no reason but to increase their geography trivia
knowledge.

How I organized my mom's recipes
Hi Maria,
One year for Christmas, I typed up the recipes my mom used and put in three ring
binders for my dad and my brothers (and myself). I photocopied the original,
stained, and well-worn recipe cards or papers she had and included the copies in
the binder. The originals are in a keepsake container of her items.

I took your advice to do 'something'
Maria,
Regarding your April 3 Newsletter,
I thought I was the only one! But just wanted to say that I'm glad to hear you
also clean your shower while taking one. I used to get soaking wet cleaning it
when fully dressed. Now, I spray the walls with a cleaner, get in, and wipe the
walls down before washing myself. It's so much quicker and easier. And so glad
to learn I'm not the only one!
I also took your advice to 'do something, rather than nothing,' and opened a box
my mom packed up before she passed 20 years ago. Eek! I know. I found 8 Manila
envelopes, each packed with unlabeled negatives. What to do with them?! I found
an app through FilmBox by Photomyne that scans negatives and creates digital
photos that can be saved. It's like magic! I've already scanned 560 negatives
with another 1,000+ to go. My sisters, brothers, and I are thrilled at seeing
old images we've either forgotten or had never seen. My hope is to create a
digital photo album in time to celebrate what would have been my Mom's 100th
birthday this June. (Wish me luck!)
This has me going through other boxes too. It'll get done because I took your
suggestion of doing something. Thank you!
I appreciate your daily newsletter and helpful ideas. I wish you all the best!

'Ideas are like slippery fish. They seem to have a peculiar knack of getting
away from us. Because of this, the creative person always has a pad and a pencil
handy. When he gets an idea, he writes it down. He knows that many people have
found their whole lives changed by a single great thought. By capturing ideas
immediately, he doesn't risk forgetting them.' (Earl Nightingale)
