  Organizing Thought of the Day

Be a Nosy Neighbor

When I was younger, I remember hearing the phrase, 'don't be a nosy neighbor.' If you remember the TV show, 'Bewitched,' you may recall the actress cast as Gladys Kravitz...the neighbor who knew everything that was going on with all the folks in her neighborhood. The message was that being a 'nosy neighbor' is not such a great thing.

But sometimes, it actually is.

Sometimes the people around us do the smartest things that we notice and can't help but want to try for ourselves. When we notice a neighbor finding a better or smarter way of doing something, it is natural to want to jump on board and follow suit.

A friend of mine had been wanting to add some lighting to the deck in her backyard, but thought it was going to be a big undertaking. Then she noticed that one of her neighbors was using solar lights. He hung them up on his deck by using velcro strips and then attached them to the side posts on the deck. Not only was he getting lighting that wasn't adding to his electric bill, he was at the same time avoiding having to drill anywhere on his deck. It made complete sense to her. The next day, she and her husband bought a different style of solar lights and followed a set-up similar to her smart neighbor.

There are different, creative ways of doing nearly everything, but we can't think them ALL up on our own. Plus, the way we have in our head may not always be the best or most efficient way of doing whatever it is.

Sometimes all you need to do is take a look out your window to get ideas on how to better do things.

By the way, 'nosy neighbors' can also be very helpful when it comes to programs like 'Neighborhood Crime Watch.' For instance, if you're on vacation and a strange car is parked in your driveway or someone is walking around your home looking at your windows, he or she could call you on your cell and ask if you're aware of that person...or call the police department so it could be confirmed whether that person is a legitimate visitor or not.

While it's still not a good idea to be nosy when it's solely for your own 'entertainment,' being a 'nosy neighbor' now and then, can actually be a very good thing. By the way, when you do get a good idea or help from your neighbors, be sure you let them know how much you appreciate them!

Tell me if this at all sounds familiar...

Karen is in her 50s and works a desk job. Her weight's okay, she's reasonably active, but she is 'feeling her age.' Her neck and shoulders are often tight, her joints ache, and overall stiffness sometimes causes her to wince just getting out of her chair. The days that are really frustrating are when she cannot even reach her shoes to tie her laces.

You see, no matter what Karen tries, she's stiff and can't stretch. A muscle or age problem? Not necessarily. Very often, it's because the brain has forgotten how to 'feel' parts of the body...back, hips, shoulders, etc. The brain just becomes no longer aware of those parts. It cannot successfully direct the muscles to move in certain ways.

Science now shows that by re-activating the brain, we can continue to positively evolve and transform physically, mentally, and emotionally to experience an increase in overall performance, flexibility, energy, and enthusiasm.

That's where the Neuromovement Healing Fest comes in. Discover the simple movements that will immediately improve your brain functioning so you can move freely once again without pain...just like in your younger days. You will see super-fast results. Best yet, this event is free of charge. Visit:
