  Organizing Thought of the Day

Organizing Tips for Moms

For anyone who is a mom, you already know that life can get busy. Here are a few organizing tips especially for moms.

1. Wake up early...before the rest of your family. This way, you have time to yourself to read, quietly sip a cup of coffee, meditate...or whatever you love to do.

2. Don't do everything yourself. Spouses, kids of all ages, and any live-in relatives can help out around the house. Teamwork is the name of the game.

3. Stick to routines to get your TO DOs done. The less decisions you have to make in a given day, the better.

4. It's OK to say no. Volunteer requests, social engagements or play dates, or any 'extra TO DOs' asked of you...if you don't have the time and/or you don't want to participate, that's your choice. While I help out when my time and interest allows, my 'go to phrase' otherwise is, 'thanks so much for thinking of me, but I'll have to pass this time around.'

5. Buddy up. If you're driving your kids to school, camp, etc. every day, can you carpool with another parent doing the same? He/she drives one day, you drive the next?

6. Make breakfast a bit easier. Set the breakfast table the night before with dishes, utensils, etc., as well as non-perishable items like cereal or fruit that don't require refrigeration.

7. Meal plan. I can't emphasize this enough. Know what you're making for meals, specifically for busy weeknights, and grocery shop ahead of time. It's no fun when it's dinnertime and you have no idea what you're going to make...or don't have the needed ingredients on hand.

8. Don't keep everything in your head. Yes, you have tons of wonderful, magical talents...but the most successful people in the world jot down notes so they don't forget the important stuff. Use your devices, notebooks, and calendars and allow those tools to remember for you.

9. Set alarms. When you have to do something or go somewhere on a certain day at a certain time, set your phone alarm to sound. It acts as a audible reminder for those days when you may be distracted.

10. Keep 'back up' items on hand. Who wants to have to run to the store at the last minute? In my house, we always have poster board (no last minute runs to the store for school projects), supplies to make an impromptu batch of cupcakes, pantry items for a quick dinner, gift cards for last minute gifts, etc.

Happy Mother's Day!

Tell me if this at all sounds familiar...

Karen is in her 50s and works a desk job. Her weight's okay, she's reasonably active, but she is 'feeling her age.' Her neck and shoulders are often tight, her joints ache, and overall stiffness sometimes causes her to wince just getting out of her chair. The days that are really frustrating are when she cannot even reach her shoes to tie her laces.

You see, no matter what Karen tries, she's stiff and can't stretch. A muscle or age problem? Not necessarily. Very often, it's because the brain has forgotten how to 'feel' parts of the body...back, hips, shoulders, etc. The brain just becomes no longer aware of those parts. It cannot successfully direct the muscles to move in certain ways.

Science now shows that by re-activating the brain, we can continue to positively evolve and transform physically, mentally, and emotionally to experience an increase in overall performance, flexibility, energy, and enthusiasm.

That's where the Neuromovement Healing Fest comes in. Discover the simple movements that will immediately improve your brain functioning so you can move freely once again without pain...just like in your younger days. You will see super-fast results. Best yet, this event is free of charge. Visit:

  Inspiration

'But there's a story behind everything. How a picture got on a wall. How a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple, and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother's story, because hers is where yours began.' (Mitch Albom)
