It's timely that you talked about shoes.
I didn't read this essay until this morning, but just yesterday I switched from
my winter shoes to my summer shoes. I live in upstate NY, so yes, I have
seasonal shoes. I also got rid of 4 pairs that either didn't fit well or weren't
comfortable. I will be donating them soon.
I must have somehow heard you in my head. LOL

New use for old VHS boxes
In reference to your
Unlikely Storage Ideas newsletter issue...
When looking at your article on unlikely storage ideas, I wanted you to know
that I am an absolute advocate of using old magazine racks. My kitchen cupboards
have never been more organized. Items are so easy to get at since I started
using a combination of old magazine racks and old plate racks, positioned on
their side.
I thought I should also mention that I have recently discovered using old VHS
video boxes as another invaluable storage solution. I have used VHS boxes to
organize flat first-aid items, like band-aids and packets of pills. They can
easily be labeled and stored like books, making it easy to get to the needed items.
I have also used old VHS boxes for sewing accessories, like reels of thread,
needles and pins, buttons etc. and for organizing small craft items.
This is such a simple idea, and they're free if you have not yet discarded them.
Repurposing them also means that those old plastic boxes do not go to the
landfill. Don't worry if you already got rid of your old boxes. There are loads
of other people who still have yet to discard theirs. Check at a rummage sale.
Plus, they can be found inexpensively on resale websites like eBay.

Wash, fold and put away...right away
Maria,
You recently shared a tip regarding putting laundry away immediately after the
wash and dry cycle. I'm happy to say that, when I read it, I had just put my
laundry away moments before.
Once upon a time, I would let it stay on the bed until I felt like putting it
away. No more. I learned that if I do it as soon as I fold, I feel so good when
I see it in the closet or drawers.
I wash, fold, and put away...right away.
