Organizing Thought of the Day

Day 4: Organize Your Way to Better Health
|
The topic of 'getting organized' relates to every single aspect of your
life...your home, family, schedule, finances, social life, education, career,
retirement, relationships...EVERYTHING. This week, I'm zoning in on organizing
your way to better health. Today is DAY 4 of a 5-day series.
7. Create a 7-day meal plan for the week. When it comes to being
organized for healthy living, knowing what you'll be cooking/eating each day is
key. Having a plan, based on your schedule, will take out the frustrating
decision of what to make for meals each day, and help you get dinner on the
table every night.
Look at your schedule realistically. On weekdays, I try to make fairly easy
meals that take me 20-minutes or less to prep. On more leisurely weekends, I'll
prepare and cook something more elaborate.
Keep track of the meals you love and save them in an organized recipe book or on
a Pinterest Board, marked as 'Favorites.' Once you have three or four weeks of
favorite recipes in your collection, you can make those each week on a
rotational basis. You can always add in another favorite recipe along the way...
maybe you schedule a 'try a new recipe' adventure on Saturdays.
8. Then, make a shopping list and grocery shop with your list. Once you
have your meal plan, it's easy to shop and get what you need. Make yourself a
list and head to the store...or order online if that option is available and you
prefer this method. Try your best to stick to the list...which will help you
stay organized for your health...and will help prevent you from over-spending
on unnecessary items as well.
By the way, I never shop on an empty stomach. For me, I know that doing so
nearly always results in me buying extras. Unless you're super-disciplined,
usually those extras aren't the healthiest options.
When I grocery shop, I know if I'm investing the majority of my time in the
produce aisle, and very little time in the middle aisles, I'm on a good grocery
shopping track...health-wise...for me and me family.

___ 2. Bring your flip flops. If you're going to the beach, the local
swimming pool, etc., chances are you're going to need to use the public
restrooms. Locker rooms and public pool restrooms are prime areas for picking up
germs that can cause athlete's foot, warts, etc. If you're going to use one of
these facilities, don't go barefoot.
Bring your flip flops and wear them.
Those flip flops will need to be disinfected, by the way, when you get home.
