My daughter, Amanda, is on her high school's golf team. For the past three years, she has carried her clubs around the golf course for meets, but at the end of last season, she wanted a golf cart. She was offered a used one, no charge, by her coach who retired. Golf carts are very pricey so she gladly thanked him and took it.

Opening and closing the cart is easy...once you know how to do it. To ensure our daughter would not have a problem at her meets...

1) My husband, Joe, pulled it out of storage and applied some WD-40 so it could be opened and closed easily. Any squeaking immediately ceased.

2) Then, Joe and I made two, 2-minute videos for her. The first included the steps to unfold the golf cart so it was ready for use. The second included the steps regarding how to fold it back up so it is small enough to fit back in the car. Joe took the video and voiced the steps, one at a time, and I demonstrated each step to her.

We then quickly showed her the steps, and had her demonstrate to us that she could do those steps. Then we texted the videos to her phone in case she forgot any of the steps at the golf meet. She later told us she had to reference both videos, so she was grateful to have them.

Cell phone video cameras have made it very easy to provide instructions, especially when you can't be there in person to demonstrate how to do something, or don't want to have to keep giving the same instructions over and over.

Some other possibilities for making a quick video:

Your daughter calls and asks how you prepare artichokes for cooking. You can set up your phone on your kitchen counter, and make her a quick video of you doing it.

You need to locate something later at work, and your co-worker who is there knows where it is. He can make you a quick video of where it is, walking from point A to point B.

You just arranged the chairs, tables, and serving tables for a church fundraiser you're doing. Video tape what you did as reference. You can use this video next year when you want to replicate the setup.

In my mind, using the video camera feature (and the regular camera feature) on cell phones has made life so much easier...and has given us mega-opportunies for being more organized.

By the way, having a cell phone tripod gives you the opportunity to take a video, hands-free, if you're alone. In some cases, you may need one that's tall and there are many available to purchase. For simple desktop or tabletop videos, I love this mini table/desktop tripod and use it all the time.
