Fabulous Organizing Tips and Thoughts
from GON Readers
I received a lot of response to my
August 23rd: Life is More Organized When You Do This issue
Here are a bunch of letters/tips related to it...
Saves time and makes purchases stress-free
Hi Maria,
The camera on our cell phone has been a source of information for my husband.
During this pandemic, he has shopped for me, including my face/body washes and
creams, medications (OTC and prescription), and other miscellaneous items. I
show him the container prior to shopping and also show him the picture on the
phone. He can show the exact item to the staff when necessary. This saves time
and makes the purchase relatively stress-free during this time in our lives.
Thanks for keeping us on track with your website and emails!
--Louise Smith
I take photos of our holiday decorations
I love your video idea! And I love that she used it.
Each year, I take photos of our holiday decorations. I then pull them out when
I decorate the following year so I don't have to figure out how I decorated the
house in past years. This doesn't mean that I decorate the same every year,
but it does give me a starting point and eliminates a lot of frustration during
a very busy time.
--Karen Brill
I videotaped my PT exercises
Hi Maria,
I recently had physical therapy and videotaped my PT showing me several
exercises! These would have been difficult to either write down or present on
paper with illustrations. Love your daily newsletter!
--Jane Sullivan
I use my iPhone camera to help me complete puzzles
Maria,
I love working jigsaw puzzles. At the suggestion of my friend, I use my iPhone
camera to take a photo of the puzzle on the box and then I can easily enlarge
the photo to help me in completing the puzzle.
--Norma, North Carolina
I don't have to worry whether I'm doing it correctly or not
I've recorded service men when they've installed something. For example, we
have a whole house humidifier with a filter that needs to be changed and it's a
bit complicated. I recorded him so I know how to change it correctly. Same with
a filter we have on our water pump. Now I don't have to worry whether I'm doing
it correctly or not. I know I'm doing it right.
--Kathy, Wisconsin
Technology can be wonderful
Maria,
Just yesterday, my husband took a video of our sweet neighbor's tree. She needs
it taken down and a co-worker does such work as a side job. It was useful so as
not to have him drive out of his way. He was able to view the work that needed
to be done as well as view any obstacles in his way. Technology can be
wonderful!
--Patti Schilling, Wisconsin
I know, at-a-glance, what I need to buy
Loved your video suggestions. I have a whiteboard on my fridge. One side has
my shopping list, and the other side has the name/date of leftovers. I take a
photo before I go to the grocery store. I know in one glance what I need to
buy and what dishes I have that can be supplemented or used as a base for
another meal. I wipe them clean and I'm ready to go again!
Thanks for what you do. LOVE your newsletter!
--Carole Bernard, Avon CT
I use my phone and I'm nearly paperless
I use my phone's camera to take a clear picture of every paper that comes my
way. I have one folder with a few papers in it and that is all the paper I own.

clearing any out, you can max out your phone's storage. Delete any photos or
