  Organizing Thought of the Day

Ask Maria:
How to store cheap tree ornament hooks, no tangling?

A GON Reader Asked:

Looking for ideas on storing Christmas tree ornament hooks.just the cheap, plain Jane, metal hooks. I will never understand how they get so tangled by simply sitting in storage.

--Amy Montgomery

Maria Gracia Responded:

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your question. I have a few ideas for you, as I know how frustrating it could be to untangle those inexpensive hooks.

1. Keep the hooks on the ornaments. One easy way to solve this dilemma is to not remove the hooks from your ornaments. Simply keep each attached and be sure to separate your ornaments using an ornament divider or wrapping each in newspaper.

2. Upcycle an empty toilet paper roll. Slip the hook around the outside of the tube. Secure them with an elastic band. You can use both ends. When you're ready to use, pull off one hook at a time.

3. Upgrade your Christmas hooks. These are the ornament hangers my family uses. They're elegant and they don't tangle as easily. These can also be hung over a pencil and secured with scotch tape.

Hope this helps!
