Reader Question from Ronnie Tapp
I would like to know what do I start cleaning first in my house after I feel better in a week or two. I am getting over COVID right now.
My doctor said I need to clean the kitchen and bathrooms and
wipe down surfaces in the other rooms.
I bought some bottles of Pine-Sol, Dawn Antibacterial Dish Soap, some Clorox Wipes, and some Lysol Spray. All help appreciated.

Hi Ronnie,
First and foremost, I want to say I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been dealing with Covid. I hope you're feeling better every day and giving yourself the time you need to rest and recover fully.
It’s wonderful that you’re thinking ahead about getting your home back in order—just don’t overdo it. Start slow and steady.
Here’s a simple plan to get started whenever you're getting over being
sick:
1. Prioritize the Kitchen and BathroomsThese areas are the biggest germ hotspots. Use a disinfecting spray to wipe down countertops, sink surfaces, and any high-touch areas like cabinet handles and appliance buttons. Follow up with
your Lysol spray for added disinfection. 2. High-Touch Surfaces in Other RoomsThink light switches, remote controls, door handles, and any other surfaces you touch often. Your Clorox wipes or Lysol wipes are perfect for these. Keep it simple—there’s no need to deep clean right now.
3. Floors and Linens
Once the essentials are done, move on to vacuuming or mopping the floors. Toss any used bed linens, towels, or throw blankets in the wash with warm water and detergent.
4. Go Room by Room
Pace yourself by focusing on one room at a time. If you feel tired, stop and come back later. Your health comes first.
5. Finish with Freshness
Use your Lysol spray to freshen up the air—it can make the space feel clean and uplifting.
You’ve already done a great job stocking up on cleaning supplies, so you’re well-prepared. Just
take it one step at a time, and remember that your energy might take a little while to return to full strength.
Be kind to yourself during this process. Wishing you a smooth recovery and a clean, refreshed home,
Ronnie.
Warmly,
